There’s some breakfast tea, as well as a sliver of smoked paprika powder and a few redcurrants and strawberry jam. We’re off to a good start. Taste: An oily, almost sticky mouthfeel followed.

This limited-edition release matures in carefully selected Pinot Noir casks from New Zealand, infusing a unique fruit complexity into Longrow’s traditionally peated character.. Longrow Red is a 13-year-old peated single malt that has spent time aging in Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon casks from Mont Gras’ Intriga Estate in Alto Maipo, at the foot of the Chilean Andes. Aromas of rhubarb and custard sweets, stewed red fruits, blackberries and ginger lie over a layer of barley sugar on the nose. The palate offers notes of summer berries, red apples, smouldering peat embers.
